Currently the Drake Recreation Board is working on a renovation project on
the Drake Community Centre. The facility has served the community since 1986 and
is need of an upgrade and a new look.
February 1st was the start date for the walls. Many volunteers spent
their time pulling down the old wall and replacing it with new plywood to
prep it for the new wall carpeting.
Currently a contractor is installing the wall carpeting.
The second portion of this project will take place from
March 1 - 20, when the flooring will be replaced. During this time, the hall
will be closed for public use. Again, volunteers will be needed on March 1st
for a couple days.
The estimated cost of this project is $50,000.00. If you
have ideas on how to help, please contact our Fundraising Committee which
consists of Morley Strong, Dave Ewen, Darren Blair and Denise Howat. You can
also help our fundraising efforts by making a cash donation at the Village
Office. Stu will give you an Income Tax receipt for your donation.
The Community Centre Kitchen Committee has been serving the volunteers
and the contractors a much appreciated lunch every day.
Thank you to the many volunteers that have been helping with the
renovations, preparing lunches, and serving the workers!
