Poet Maisie Bartel

Proud parents Darren and Sarah Bartel along with big brother Hunter of Drake, Sk are excited to announce the arrival of their little girl.  Poet was born on Aug 18, 2009 at 7:37am in Nambor, Queenlands, Australia weighing 8lbs 11-1/2oz and was 20" long. Grandparents are Chester & Elaine Bartel of Drake, Sk and Anthony & Jane Tipper of Cooran, Queenland, Australia. Great Grandparents are Roy & Marlene Coates of Prince Albert, Sk and Linda E. Bartel of Drake, Sk.

Avalon Apple Gorgia-Lea Esau

Tania McIntyre and Maurice Esau welcome their first born child, Avalon Apple Gorgia-Lea, born July 17,2009 at 7:22pm at Royal University Hospital. Apple weighed 8lbs 6oz and was 22" long. Proud grandparents are Del & Sandy St Croix of Drake, Marliese & Harold Esau of Calgary AB, Louie Sieben of Lac La Biche AB, and Renee Sieben of Cold Lake AB. Great grandparents are Lois McIntyre & Gene Wilson of Savona BC, Pauline Kielly of St.Vincent's SMB, Newfoundland and Ingrid Esau of Tessin, Germany.  Apple has many loved Aunts and Uncles, the closest of which are Harley St Croix & Prax Pelegrin of Drake, Jesse Sieben of Lac La Biche AB, Kathrina Esau of Calgary AB, Bailey & Celeste Sieben of Cold Lake AB. Family is happy and healthy at home in Drake SK.

SLC Report - by Christian

The SLC has been working hard since the New Year. We are all excited to be back to school.   We have had a couple of meetings. One decision we made was to give away leftover candy canes to celebrate Ukranian Christmas (or at least it was a good excuse!). We will sell hot chocolate on Jan 15^th,  29^th, and Feb 12^th.  Hot chocolate will be 50 cents and cookies will be 25 cents each.  There will also be a spirit day on the 12^th of February.  So that is what we are doing for the month of January and some of February until the February break. By the way, congratulations to everyone who entered the Christmas colouring contest!! Thanks to the SCC for the treat bags after the Christmas concert.  

What's Happening

 To help promote literacy, Drake SCC has given the school two Scholastic $5 gift certificates for monthly draws.  All students have a chance for the draw.  Winners have included:

 October: Brooke - Gryzel

November: Harley - Peyton

December: Terrell - Kristie

The winner of an $10 Scholastic Book gift certificate for completing a book report was Christian.

 Congratulations to Kaelan, Hannah and Peyton and who won gift certificates at the Christmas Concert.

 Come Read With Students: Thanks to everyone who has been volunteering to read to students.  Adults who volunteer have their names put in a draw. Congratulations to Margaret Ewert who won the December draw.  Reading days and times have been changed to Thursday and Friday at about 9:30.  Everyone is welcome to come!!

 Our SCC regular meeting date has been changed to the first Wednesday of every month, 7:00 in the Drake School staff room.
